SNOW DAY!!

It's a snow day here in Cincinnati. Schools, businesses, state colleges and universities - everyone is closed for business. We got 4 inches overnight. For all of you northerners who are snorting your coffee with laughter right now - Yes, LESS than 4 inches can shut down the city. As of 9 a.m. there were 434 closings. My husband hails from Michigan and my dad from Maine. They have a grand time in the snow. They shake their heads at the southern Ohio drivers who struggle to navigate the mess and expertly zip around them. Me? I'm thankful for an excuse to stay out of it all.

I love snow days (says the teacher). I don't want too many, just a couple of well-placed days off here and there. There is something special about a day where nature has wiped my agenda clean. I get so much DONE. My daughter and I are going to shovel the first round of snow off the driveway, and then we're going to take down the Christmas tree. That's right. My Christmas tree is still up. It's been known to stay up as late as Easter if I don't get it down before the end of Christmas break. I'll get in some writing time. So far I've been able to keep my New Year's resolution of writing 6 days a week - no excuses. What's my favorite part of a snow day? Time to curl up on the sofa with a good book and a cup of hot tea.

I'm getting ready to fill the crockpot with Hazel's Ranch Chicken recipe. Thank you, Brenda, for Hazel's Crockpot Thursdays! Have a great snow day, everyone!

I love snow days, too! Here is Texas we have ice days maybe once every other year, and when they come, life is good!

In the south (Houston) a flutter of snow will shut down the city. I lived in CO for 19 years but have been a southerner for 25 years now. Sometimes I see visions of snow on the interstate when its only packing peanuts running amok.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who leaves her Christmas tree up too long. I was so proud that I managed to get mine down the first week in January this year.

We're in Michigan. Buried in snow. Still have school. Grrr.

I love snow days. They aren't the same now that I have no kids below college age anymore, but I used to welcome them as much as the kids did. Well, not maybe AS much. :)

Had a great day! The Christmas tree is still up... but I just got my phone call from the district - no school tomorrow! I'll work on it then. This storm is a bit different than today's powdery fluff. We're getting 1/2 in of ice and 6 more inches of snow. Here's praying the power (which goes out regularly in my neighborhood) stays on!!!

We're getting snow here too today. I hope you have fun with yours, Nora. Enjoy your chicken too. Brenda & Hazel have some great recipes!

We had closings of schools today and we didn't even have 2 inches...these days they are scared to let them go to school if it is just a chance of snow...grin..

I wish Hubs didn't have farm tractors that can get me off the mountain and to work on snow days, but he does...darn it...grin...

Here is south central Texas we can get shut down for less than 4 inches! We REALLY don't know how to drive on the stuff here. Newscasters and weatherpersons get very excited about the "possibility" of snow or ice. In fact last night there was an almost constant weather scroll on the bottom of the TV warning of the "possible" hazardous conditions that MIGHT occur due to accumulations of ice on bridges.
